Laura Linney is an American actor who has become famous for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Her father was an acclaimed playwright, but she was raised as a single child by a single mom, a nurse. Through the summer months, while with her dad Linney was able to develop a passion for the theatre. Her first stage experience was initially through Brown University then at Juilliard School. After two years of the graduation, she began an Broadway career. A few years later, she was in the world of television. In the years since she has appeared in a variety of film, TV and stage plays. There were many awards she received during her professional career, such as several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Yet, despite the array of awards the theatre is still her primary passion and she has continued to appear both on stage and screen.
