Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12th November 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej or now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. First gymnast in history to score a 10 for an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, an Romanian gymnastics instructor, who later became Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci aged six. First competing in the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969, she was 13th. And in 1970, the Romanian gymnast won. In 1972, in a meet of communist countries junior athletes before the Olympics she won three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974 she won the overall junior champion. In 1975 she was awarded 4 gold and 1 silver in her first senior competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European Champion. The first female ever to perform the backwards double salto when dismounting from an uneven parallel bar.
